"The body remembers what the conscious mind chooses to forget" -Unknown
I'll never forget it. I was at my chiropractor's office and told, yet again, that if I kept running, the pain was going to keep coming back. He reinforced several times how hard running was on my body and the harm I was doing to myself by continuing.
As a formerly obese woman and someone who, even now, is very conscious of my body, weight, and body image, running is a key aspect of my healthy lifestyle.
Not to mention the emotional benefits I get from running. Stopping, at that point, was the last thing I wanted to do.
Yet, the pain in my lower back would often be so debilitating that I would have a hard time even focusing on work when it would flare up. I recall many days in my office trying to get comfortable; standing, sitting, walking, standing, sitting, well, you get the point. The longer I ran, the more severe moments of pain I would have.
In addition to the physical pain and discomfort, my energy level was diminishing quickly.
This was around the time I started learning and exploring the emotional impact of physical wellness and the emotional side of healing.
A few books I highly recommend to better understand cellular emotional healing are:
The Body Keeps the Score By. Bessel Van der Kolk MD
The Emotion Code By. Dr. Bradley Nelson
You can heal your life. By. Louise Hay
After reading the Emotion Code and listening to many podcasts on the emotional aspect of physical healing, I sought out an emotion code therapist. Now to some, it may sound a bit whoo whoo and out there in how it works, but as someone who had decades of emotional baggage to be released, I can tell you one session after another deepened my healing. In combination with the Emotion Code, I also got my first experience of Reiki/Energy Healing.
Looking back, one word of advice I have for practitioners of any emotional/energy modality is to advise the person that there may be a lot of emotions stirred up after the work, even days after.
And to anyone reading and considering emotional or energy healing, understand that this is part of the healing process. Therefore, allowing it to be free of your cellular function is vital.
Processing it will further help you heal.
A couple of years into the journey of understanding emotional and energy work, I had the chance to meet Dr. Christy Matusiak, DC. She is a Holistic Chiropractor based in Wilmette, IL. Dr. Matusiak uses Applied Kinesiology and works on healing the whole person. She has been instrumental in helping heal my emotional scars, adrenals and getting me running again! Her work helped deepen my understanding of how emotional healing works, healing ancestral and past life emotions, not to mention the emotional/physical connection.
Since starting to work with Dr. Christy, my physical pain is for the most nonexistent.
When something does flare up, it is generally resolved quickly via a remote session and/or using what I have learned through the years and using the energy work I do on myself.
How does it work?
Every thought we think and experience we have leaves a mark on our physical being. The cells of our body have memory, and even if we believe we are passed something, our body remembers the physiological feelings of that moment. The life experiences we have from the time we are in our mother's womb impact us, how we live, and our future. These include:
How we live, show up, etc.
What we do
Our self-expression
Gene expression
Actions, thoughts, and emotions
Processing the emotions of the past and the present helps to release the cellular memory. As described earlier, there are several ways to do this, which I'll go more in-depth on in a future post.
Healing, from my perspective, is not a one-tiered approach. Combining Cellular Emotional healing, Energy healing, and repatterning have a profound impact on healing for the long term.
